Security Log On

Security - Log On

To prevent misuse, every user should log on to EZ2000 Plus Dental, and log off when they leave the workstation. If you are not prompted to log on when you start the program, the Admin user does not have a password setup. See Security Setup to create User Groups, add Users, Passwords and Usernames, and assign Permissions.

Each time you open EZ2000 Plus Dental, the Log On window will open.

Click on your User name, enter your password, then click OK.

To log off, in the Main Menu, click Log Off.

Occasionally staff members forget to log off. To define automatic log off options see Security Setup.

If you log off and there are unsaved changes, a warning message will show.  If automatic log off is turned on, and you manually click Log Off, any unsaved changes will be lost, and no warning message will show.

Another option is to setup multiple 'users' for each employee, each with different permission levels. The 'user' with minimal permissions could be used routinely, then when they need to perform an action that is a security risk, they would log off, then log on as a different 'user' with more permissions.

Track Authorized Use of EZ2000 Plus Dental
To track who logs in/out of Open Dental, use the Windows audit feature.  Set up Windows so that each user is required to log in separately, then use the Security Log to view valid and invalid log attempts. To view the Windows audit log go to My Computer, right-click and choose Manage, expand Event Viewer, expand Windows Logs, left-click on the Security log.   Feature Request #3210.
